Where i live here in Kitchener is in a half market rent and i as well as eleven others are on housing rent, next door there is a 119 unit housing complex and next to it is Sunnyside Nursing Home the fourth and final building was just completed this March and is a 31 unit assisted living unit with a Wellness Centre inside. At this time we are now known as The Sunnyside Campus.
The Region has taken over what once was C.C.A.C territory and with great fanfare bought and installed emergency panic buttons for all the units, by the way thats 181 panic units and that would be great except these people have no authority to do anything except answer the phone and tell you to contact 911 yourself. It's hard to believe that you could be bleeding to death but they are not allowed to even put a bandage on it to slow or stop the bleeding.
When you try to speak to anyone in charge you get political double talk, as one of my neighbours discovered when she got a call from the so called supervisor who imformed her that you may have a scheduled visit to assist your shower needs but the person coming in doesn't have any schedule. As you can see the people in charge are counting on all the seniors being to afraid to speak up about this complete debockle or better yet complete waste of taxpayers dollars.
As i write this even the wellness centre is being run by complete imbosills as they had months to prepare for there opening and here we are 3 months since it has opened and there still trying to figure out how to make it work, as an example they want more usage from the spa bath and several weeks ago i was approached about testing evening baths and i agreed and time passed till i spoke to my C.C.A.C rep who told me it was on hold as the wellness centre wanted $40.00 PERBATH, WE ALL BAULKED AND I SAID THAT I DON'T CARE IF YOUR PAYING I WONT DO IT.
i COULD BE CUTTING MY OWN THROAT BY TALKING ABOUT THIS SUBJECT AND IN ADDITION SENDING COPIES TO OTHER PARTIES HOWEVER I DONT GIVE A SHIT. These people are doing more harm then help and all the seniors deserve better.
See you soon...

FATHER'S DAY
I can'thelp but think of my dad as you know he passed on in October of 1988 and this October 23 rd. it will be 22 years but it seems like yesterday to me. Please indulge me as i tell you about my father, he was one of 8 children born and raised in Montreal, he never really took to schooling as he never made it past grade 3 and as the depression took hold he went to a boys camp as my grandmother was ill with TB and the local government felt my grandfather was unable to take care of all the kids. The boys were always in some kind of mischief once believing they wanted fresh milk so it stood to reason why not find a cow, the only problem was they lived in a tri-plex and shared the backyard with 2 other families. One other time they decided fresh eggs would be nice so they aquired a chicken and left it inside a bay window closing the shutters and leaving it there overnight and one problem when sun rose the "CHICKEN" started to cock0a-doodle-doo, yes it was a rooster.
My dad tried to enlist in the army twice but was rejected for being underage and finally was accepted on the third try, he was sent to europe and fought for the canadian corp, he came home in one piece. My dad met and married my mom and later had my brother and sister, then in 1960 they had the chosen one "ME" and i could truly say i was the milk mans boy as dad worked for bordens dairy, my younger sister came along 5 years later and dad went to work for the TTC. his passion was hockey and although my brother came along first he had no interest in sports so i got the push, over the years he recieved many honors including the gold medal for service to the city of mississauga and the mhl, as well as a minor peewee tournament named for him.
Sadly my dad developed heart problems and lost his battle on October 23,1988 a little over 3 months shy of his retirement. My dad was not a well educated man however watching him with any one you wouldn't know it, and always his word was his bond, as anyone who met him knew if he said it that would be the way it was. He was also a kind and generous person who always took care of anyone he was involved with.
I can truly say i miss him terribly and so looking up all i can say is "HAPPY FATHER'S DAY" dad.
See you soon....

LIFE IN A WHEELCHAIR
Two years ago i was riding my power chair on the kingsway next to the curb when a young girl driving mommy and daddy's car clipped my rear left wheel shooting me into the curb and being catipulting me across the boulavard, i had a number of cuts on my leg and arms and when she finally stopped crying she told me she thought i was crossing the road and please don't tell my parents about this, being a sucker for young attractive crying girls i agreed not to persoue the matter any further.
Last week i went out to the bus stop at 6:30am and waited for my bus and when it came it also went leaving me sitting at the stop, the bus finally stopped up the block not because she saw me in her mirror but because 3 passengers who know me told her she left me behind. I don't understand how anybody could miss 260 lbs. of fat boy and 330 lbs. of wheelchair has to be more blind than i am.
Yesterday i was riding up weber st. on the sidewalk and just missed hitting the passenger door of a car pulling in to the plaza if i hadn't stopped. A car leaving stopped and said "YOU SHOULD BE MORE CAREFUL SON".
I'm tired of apologizing for idiots that are at fault all the time, i may be disabled but not stupid at least i think so, i know the jury is still out on that.

APRIL 16, 1961- JUNE9,2010
April 16,1961 was the night the Chicago Black Hawks won the Stanley Cup and i was 7 months 9 days old and this was my fathers team as well as his top goalie in the 6 team league Glenn Hall. I think you guessed it i was named after him, thankfully it was him and not the man my mother dated before she met my father. This person was also a NHL goalie and his name was Lorne Worsley and what was worse was his nickname was "GUMP" i think i would have killed first my parents then myself of i was Lorne "GUMP" OAY!!!
It took 49 years to end the drought but it was worth it with one exception, that being my father isn't around to see it. Sadly he passed away October 23,1988 at the age of 64 due to heart and stomach complications. because he would have been in his glory.I know for my dad being a former goalie and long time goalie instructer he would have gone nuts with how bad both goalies played through out the series, iknow i did. So for you Toronto die hards they now have the longest win less streak at 43 years and likely to go longer with the team they have right now.
The reason i brought this up was because when Patrick Kane scored in overtime in Philly to win i found myself weeping and thinking about my dad and how proud he would have been, i guess with father's day only a week away as well.
It's nice to be back in the saddle again, see you soon....

A Long Time
I know that i haven't blogged for a week and truthfully nobody even noticed, i seem to be writing this forum only for my gratification as even my own brother won't read it because he believesthat it's nothing more than dribble. When i started this journey my intent was to inform, and educate as well as share a chuckle over government stupidity.I like to think i've enlightened the few who have read this blog, unfortunately i think i'm spitting in the wind at this point.
I wish to thank my sister's and my friends here and in Cambridge as well as my favorite person in Hamilton for your undieing support in this endeaver, i really have enjoyed this very much however it's time to step back now.
See you later....

1.1 BILLIAN and CLIMBING
Well the feds are at it again, this is our turn to host both G-8 and G-20 conferences the first in Huntsville at one of the resorts that has been turned into a military camp and the other in Toronto downtown on Front st. Yes we have an obligation to take our turn and host these world leaders and yes they need security however this 36 hour swarey in Toronto where the bulk of the security is required takes also most of the cost, this event hasn't even happened yet however the tab is already at 1.1 BILLION DOLLARS and yes you heard that right.
The final tally will be much higher when it's all over, i can't for the life of me understand why so much as last year in Pittsburg the americans spent $18 million dollars, and if you add the last 6 summits the total is less than a quarter billion dollars. Well the feds are having to bring in cops from across Canada paying for flights, salaries, meals and ovcourse accomadations not at motel 6 but the harbour castle westin hotel and by the way every room in the place is booked by the feds.
Where this goes off the rails for me is the visiting ( 19 ) countries have recieved clearance from CSIS and the RCMP to bring their own security for their particular leaders. If you haven't figured this out it means ultimately their own people will handle their own security for their leader, only quordinating with Canadian security. When you considerall the problems we have including deficits, busted infrastructure and short falls in health spending and here we have a no limit ATM card being passed around, i am a conservative and agree most of the time however this time their really out to lunch.

Sad Day For Children
When i was a child my parents never said no when i wanted to play any sport, they payed my registration and aquired any equipment that was required and i just assumed every other child had the same. I guess i may have been blessed as my older brother took no interest iin sport and i never used hand-me-downs, when i looked around the locker room i would see a guy using his older brothers equipment however it was no big deal as nobody cared as long as he could play.
As i became an assistant with my father i soon discovered that there were families that were having trouble because i watched my dad quietly purchase skates, equipment and even sticks for boy's who required but could not get. As i got older the scope broadened over time and after my father passed i continued the practice, as an example i chose my roster after 3 weeks of tryouts in may for the fall schedule i discovered 5 single mother's are part of my roster. When my staff and i met for pop & wings and discuss my choices they chuckled that single coach and 5 single mothers (HA-HA).By the end of season things went relaticely smooth however by my calculations due to funding it cost me about $2400.00 and felt it was worth it especially when those 5 boys had a ball and never knew a thing.
This week i was saddened to learn of a study done that revealed that 1 in3 children don't play organized sport with hockey leading the way because their parents couldn't afford the cost.. In hockey it requires an investment of about $1000,00 minimum every year as children out grow their equipment and of course a new stick and sharpening of skates every week and god forbid your kid developes and gets promoted from house league to elite level your costs will likely triple. I used to think it was wrong to sell ads on the boards but with ice costs approaching $300.00 for 50 minutes it's now more agreeable to me and maybe selling the rights to coke or pepsi for exclusive access in the rink and if it means drinking pop you don't normally so be it if it helps hold the line on ice costs. When an organization host's a tournament sell the naming rights to generate funding to hold the line on registrations and since i was part of the elite levels i know that individual clubs raise any where from $20,000,00 and $46,000.00 the league should demand 10% and with 8 to 10 teams raising large sums this could generate $11,000.00 or more i know because my last year we raised slightly over $50,000.00.
Some will tell you that organizations will absorb your child's registration however having been on the board of 2 organizations i can tell you no i must warn you that you had better be prepared to loose your dignity as you must prove that your broke. The mistrust is not their fault as many a parent has tried in the past to cheat the system. I'm glad i'm not around now as it's heart breaking to see what is going on now.

Tickets To Free Ride
When yourout and about and for any reason gets pulled over by city, regional, or O.P.P and recieve a ticket for an offence you pay it during the time alloted and if you choose not to you will find a little surprise waiting for you at the drivers renewal centre. The laws were changed years ago mostly to collect back monies for the 407 tolls, and so the provincial coffers are full as nobody can live without their plates for theor cars.
The municipalities have no such protections for tickets written for by-law violations and have calculated that the entire province owes over 1 BILLION DOLLARS in unpayed fines. Almost if not all cities are having funding problems and have pleaded with premier McGoofy and his side kick finance minister and are not getting anywhere with their proposal. Their request that all municipal violations be added to your license renewals, this however has fallen on deaf ears. You as a tax payer make up for the shortfalls this creates by increased property, sewer and water rates each year when a small number continue to brake the law and scoff at the authorites when it comes to paying.
This is further proof that we live in an age where honour and entegratie no longer applies and that includes our politicians who see no personnal gain from moving forward so it's business as usual and cities continue to find new and creative ways to pay for the services they are mandated to pay for by wait for it ... the province , the same bone heads who won't assist in retrieving these lost revenues. We need to let McGoofy and his band of thieves know were tired of being treated as idiots but if we reelect the liberals then we really are morons.

Follow Up Time
I thought today i would up date everyone on a couple of blogs i wrote previously. On Sunday the Windsor Spitfires not only won the Memorial Cup they dominated the other 3 teams, during their 4 game run they trailed there opponents a total of 3;02 and out scored the 3 teams 29-9 that translates into an average score of 8-2.25 and won Sunday 9-1 in the championship game. The head coach Bob Boughner and general manager Warren Rychel deserve a lot of credit and i know they have 3 first round picks and 2 of the top 3 being drafted this summer in the NHL draft, although it's not on the same scale but i had a simular type team that all i needed to do was instruct and they carried it out, the hard part is gettong them to buy in on the team concept.
I was surprised to hear Spitfire management say that the name on the front is more important than the name on the back of the sweater, this was also taught to me as a player and passed on to my players when i became a head coach. They exibited that very trait not just now but for a remarkable 2 seasons. This is a good reason for the people of Windsor to celebrate since they haven't had a lot to cheer about lately.
On a different subject the oil spill in the gulf is moving slowly and yet the mess is widenlng and is now reported to be 10 miles inland in the middle of the Lisisiana wetlands killing the spawning grounds for many wildlife, Late last week Newfoundland-Labrador Premier Willams stated in the legislator that we have to move forward for economic reasons and there will NOT be any issues like B-P is having in the gulf as this is an isolated case. I wish i were wrong but i said this very thing about the federal government and not the provinceas i felt the locals would care especially with a fragile economic fishing fleet
Stay tuned for more on this subject as i believe we're headed down a slippery slop, See you soon....

Crybaby Sheep
Way back when the federal government instituded anew progressive tax to replace an old antiquated manufacturing tax, this change became known as the "GST". The finance minister claimed at the time it was revenue neutral and canadians shouldn't be upset with a new tax nor believe this was just another tax grab. I think for the first time in political history in this country there was wide spread anger and the Liberals lead by Jean (speak out of both sides of my mouth) Chretian ran a campaign of repeal and in the next general election they nearly wiped out the tories as they went from a super majority to just 2 seats in the house of commons. The 2 were Elsie Wayne and of all people Jean Charest the present leader of the province of Quebec and also now a liberal, and strangely we still have the tax todayso i guess roughly 15 million people all had a brain cramp on election day.
as anybody with an operating brain could have told you that no government can live without the revenues this tax brings in To soften the blow we recieve a cheque every quarter like a crying child being given a ice cream a pat on the head and told to run along, sadly we've done just that. As Yogi Berra once said it's deja vue all over again circa 2010 again the lying liberals at Queen's Park are instituting a new tax for Ontario which they claim will only equalize the tax rate that other provinces already have in place to work in conjunction with the federal tax rates. The "HST" has been around for a long time just not here in Ontario, the only people speaking up against the tax incease yes i said tax increase are the opposition at Queen's Park and as all good parties when or if they gain power will likely find a reason not to change back.
McGuinty and his band of thieves in an effort to soften the blow is bribing the people of Ontario with cheques over the next year, $1000.00 to families and the grand sum of $300.00 to single suckers like me. I hope your now getting the picture because it seems till this goes into effect nobody either knows or cares. Just wait for your first hydro bill or cable bill or if your buying or selling a home once this takes effect you might feel differently as that one time payout won't look so enviting. We fell for this scam once shame on you , we fall for this twice shame on me. One economist report says that it will cost a family of 4 an additional $1800.00 a year due to the "HST" my math isn't the best but a one timee payment of $333.00 x 3 payments in one year will never offset the increase in expendicher from now on.
Now it's to late for a revolt by taxpayers as the province has hired away hundreds of revenue canada employees to process the "HST" so it appears were now stuck with something were either to stupid or just don't care about as long as it doesn't effect your day to day lives and boy will it ever.

A Coward at Heart
What i'm about to say may and probablely sounds like the ramblings of a raving lunitic however i have to vent some where and as i said i believethat since becoming disabiled i've become more of a passifist and unwilling to fight verbally or fyphically over anything. Those of you who know me and since only some family and a couple of friends read this you know i wasn't the nicest person around when i could get around on my own, yes hurting any body didn't bother me and i guess this is god's way of making a better person but it's an aweful crueland i still believe this today.
joke if it is. I don't know how much more i can take of my life and i accepted all of my illness's as being all my responsibility and didn't blame others for the cards i was dealt,I will admit allong the way i've met some incredibly nice people who have tried very hard to soffen the blow so to speak, and i believe in my heart it's also brought my siblings and i together as for most of our lives we were as you would say 4 people in a row boat with an oar each rowing in different directions. I grew up in Mississuaga and allong the way thought i had friends not close but still friends whom because i now live in Kitchener and to far to travel have shall i say abandened me. In other blogs i spoke about my years of service to minor hockey mostly in Clarkson as both player and coach, they recently cellebrated the 50th anniversary of the organization and brought back people for a big party and guess when i wasn't included even with 7 years as a player, 14 as coach, 8 years as a director, 5 time tournament director including 3 of my fathers memorial tournament and with my cousin on the organizing committee no, no invit.
When i go out any where i find myself apologizing for things i shouldn't have to, such as being to slow getting on a bus to people actually running into me in malls and me saying i'm sorry The people assigned to help make my life easier or maybe i'm wrong come up with ideas that they believe work but i'm the test dumby that has to make it all work, such as something simple like getting offyour bed and going into the bath room and get on the toilet and getting up to leave simple right, not for me as i have to use a sliding board to my chair then sliding board to toilet and sliding board back to chair This simple task is both time consuming but also exhausting
What i find most frustrating is even when i'm down or not feeling well i have to paint the smile on and be the jovial fat guy because thats what is expected and as i was reminded recently when i said something in a time of depression to "SHUT AND DIE IF YOUR GOING TO YOUR ALWAYS DOING THIS" so i don't tellany one the truth any more because everyone has their own issues and even though they ask they really don't care. I find myself losing my temper with myself more frequently lately and have thought about the after life and if you believe in god and the bible how much better it would be and to give me a chance to catch up with my father who passed on October 23,1988 and still miss terribly.
My only regret is i'm to much of a coward to end things and even have thought about stopping dialysis and let nature take it's course. Please don't get me wrong as when you get depressed you think the worst and although i shouldn't feel like this being busy with regional comittees, dtalysis 3 to 4 days a week and a growing SMC home business i still feel this way. A funny reason as well is when i sleep i keep having this sad dream that when i die a service is held and my 3 sibling show up and sit in different areas of the chapel with my best friend and his wife allong with my good friend down the hall and nobody else there.
Thaks for allowing me this long winded rant, i know i feel better.

joke if it is.

Cracks, Cracks and more Cracks
I'm sorry for not blogging lately as i have been busy with SMC my home business, and more importantly was trying to calm down after a week of social workers. If any of you saw Thursday nights Grey's Anatomy, i actually began to fantasies that i was the gun man looking for social workers instead of surgeons although there are some that need to be weeded out, sorry i dygress. I live on what is known as Sunnyside Campus, for those who have never been here we have a several acre property which houses a nursing home as well as a 119 unit public housing as well as my building with 31 units some market rent and 12 housing of which i'm in.
Just recently a new 30 unit assisted living building opened, they offer a wide assortment of services as these are people whom need some help but can still live in their own apartment. The building was built at a cost of slightly over 8 million dollars, the Sunnyside Foundation added a Wellness Centre at a cost of $660,000.00 of which to this point they have raised over $500,000.00 , now the centre is open and open to all of us. The staff invited me to see and join the gym, however due to my inabilities to pay $40.00 a month or $360.00 a year which is about the going rate for gym memberships, the only problem is i can only use 2 weight machines and the message therapist and whirlpool tub is by paying an unditermend amount on top of the enishal fees.
The Sunnyside social worker and my CCAC rep have both told me i don't qualify for assistance as i'm not there for rehab. and doesn't matter if i need to work on upper body strenght so i can continue to transfer in and out of my chair and also needing exerciseto lose weight is inmaterial as well. So wait for it "Glenn you as i hate to say it you've fallen into an crack", this is not the first time so god help you if your single, white, on disability and sadly only 49 years old. I don't have a partner to help defray the costs, believe it or not in 2010 we still have racialproblems as if i were a minority i wouldn't have any problems then, being on disability pension i can't afford this membership, and most importantly at 49 i'm to young and to old although my age could be debated. I can't understand government services you see a problem you fix the problem then go back and repair what went wrong, this is how the business world works however the knuckle draggers in power still don't understand.
Thanks for your patience and allowing me to vent, see you soon...

Three Cheers for Windsor
When you consider what the economy has done to most families and cities things are not great but none as bad as Windsor. The border city that by all accounts needs binoculars to see the light of day, when you travel to the border it appears as a bustling city with enormous numbers crossing both directions of the Ambassador btidge and car traffic in the tunnel. If you look a little closer you see boarded up retail stores and warehouses and thanks to some short sighted polititions they tied there financial future to the big 3 auto makers way back when and did so because across the Detriot river were the head offices of the auto makers .
The productivity was great till free trade came along and the auto agreement was scraped and NAFTA took over as then auto's no longer had to be built here and parts took over the plants, again the city leaders didn't pay heed to the coming storm. In 2008 we watched the big 3 almost become the bankrupt 3, and as they went into free fall so did the spinoff jobs at all the suppliers as well with high unemployment taking over. The polititions in their wisdom again tied theirhopes to the Wndsor Casino and all the well paying jobs as well as entertainment winfalls that would follow, and of course nothing was created as the hoards of visitors did come to Windsor except they went directly to the casino spent their money and left town, not stopping anywhere to drop a dime.
I tell you this as i still have family there and i hear about whats going on and thankfully as CBC-TV which was the local station left town as well, something like rats jumping ship. Now like a defibulator giving CPR the Windsor Spitfires are about to play for the memorial cup on sunday as they just finished the 4 team round robin 3-0 advancing directly to the finals and as defending CHL champions they stand a good chance and with a little luck they will return home from Brandon Manitoba with the Memorial cup in hand.
So hooray for the people of Windsor as they truly needed this as it's one step forward for the city and maybe its just a baby step but at least these young men won't stub their toes.

An Update and Correction
Yesterday i wrote a blog about Graham James and today i must make a correction and update on the case to this point. I said that Sheldon Kennedy and Theo Fleury were instramental in James's conviction this was incorrect as only Kennedy was involved, however Fleury filed a complaint recently when his autobiography came out. A news report by CTV last night reported that James is staying in Mexico at the moment and also the Winnipeg Police as well as a couple of un-named forces are looking into Fleury's alligations and stated that if true new charges will be layed.
For his part James's lawyer stated that his client is not trying to hide and will answer all charges against him. I think this guy is dumber than a rock as i believe Canada and Mexico has a extradishion agreement in place so hiding there makes no sense and surely James knows it's just a matter of time before he heads back to a 8x10 cell somewhere here in Canada.
I have no compassion for this guy as he misused a sacred trust with his players and although i'm now retired from coaching i still have a love for the game.

To Pardon or Not To Pardon
The tories up in Ottawa are finally moving forward on new legislation for the parol board especially to ammend the area involving pardons since the public outcry particularly from the hockey community across Canada. Those of you not knowing what i'm talking about, recently the parol board of Canada pardoned Graham James who wass sentenced a few years ago for assaulting teen aged hockey players and i'm sure you now know since Sheldon Kennedy and Tharon Fleury both now retired NHL'ers. They played for James in the western hockey league specifically the Swift Current Broncos, these men came forward and helped to convict James and we now know there were more whom couldn't or wouldn't come forward.
What James did was reprehensible and deserved more time in jail however thats our liberal judicial system, further more he has soiled every coach in every sport out there. Any volunteer now must go through a police check including finger printing which i guess is noe such a bad thing since it seems petifiles have discovered a great place to play, as you know i coached kids from 1979 to 2001 and as time went on i wasn't in the dressing room till my players were either mostly or completely dressed, and at the end of the game nobody undressed till my talk was over and the staff left the room mind you we never left the hallway to insure the safety of all my players. In hind sight i don't see why i ever did go in while the boys dressed and now should you see a coach going into his room before he needs to take him aside and remind him of the perception and it's more importantly not proper.
Maybe lucky for us now that our present parol board has given James a pardon in essence a clearing of his records he has found work, yes and with kids as well, thankfully in Italy. I know what your saying"Why are we sending are problems abroad, we wouldn't want theirs", and your absolutly right however now that his record has been exsponged theres not one thing we can do about it and thats why the government is now making changes, sort of like closing the barn door after the horses have left but better now since if left unchecked in i believe 4 years Carla Homolka ends her probation and could do the same, so watch and listen and call if you don't hear any more from Ottawa in the near future.
Also don;t forget the May scented candle sale continues for 2 more weeks:

Eat what you want today
In America it's national eat what you want day today and i'm unsure if we in Canada celebrate as well, so if we do great and if we don't very good as well. I believe that days such as these are no more than a promotion by corporate giants, in a day when all of north america thinks were a nation of fat people and if you note i wrote a blog about this very subject. The biggest impact is with our children who pester their extremely busy parents who cave in to essaly and either stop in on their way home or phone for delivery once they get home.
The major players inundate our lives with ads on t.v. radio and newspapers but mostly if you've checked your mailbox lately this is the largest offender, we all know whom i'm talking about so it makes no sense to mention their names and give them some free advertising. This proclaimation is issued due to pressure by these corporations on the national government in whats known as lobbying by individuals paid to wander the halls in Washington and Ottawa spreading murth and merriment and i hope you understand what i mean.
I believe a day such as today we need to send a message that we'll spend our hard earned money when, where and how we want The best thing that could happen is nobody buy anything today and go home for a change and sit around the table and share a home cooked meal. This would send a loud message to these companies and you save a few dollars.

COURAGE !!!
Some in my life have told me i'm couragous and i don't know maybe i am, however i don't know what courage means or is en yet i believe i have seen 2 people close to me whom i know have it. One lives near me and if you read my blogs you already know him, he has such a good disposition considering he is on dialysis and also now blind and for the first time in his life has to rely on others for everything from getting around to making a meal. This man whom i have known for quite a while was very independant most of his life, and now just sits and listens to the world instead of participating.
The second i have known all of her life and proud to say i have loved her since the first time i changed her diaper at a very young age. Yes this is my sister's daughter, yes my niece and brbably the most couragous person i know. She has been a very caring person all of her life as she has an older sister whom she has always looked out for from an early age when grampa would give her a quarter and rather than run off she would stand right there and hold her hand out asking where was her sisters quarter, and now she has to live with a very serious ailment known as LUPUS which i don't understand alot about except it's extremely painful. My niece i would like to say she's had a good life except i can't as she had 2 failed relationships but did get 3 wonderful children and i guess a fair trade for years of crap. The oldest was an incredible young lad whom now needs some male influines as now a teenager and while still a good kid just a little off, his brothers from her second relationship are both nice kids except one has a heart condition that if unchecked could be fatal, but what makes things more difficult for her is all 3 are hyper and either do or should be on ridlin.
One other thing is she is no doubt a member of my side of the family as she has the backbone and temper of our side, fortunatly she in no way resembles me lucky for her. If i could take on her physical and financial limitatios i would as i love and admire her very much.

Technology Good or Bad
I can't believe after writing my last blog in which i talk about kids at KFC unable to write or use their heads to figure out totals after the power went out and was forced to do it all manually. Along comes Black Thursday and for many of you who don't follow the business news network you maybe surprised to hear that in a span of no more than 15 minutes the Dow Jones Industrial lost 997 points, yes i will say it again 997 points. Yes the financial crisis in Greece and other countries in europe was a factor, however the largest cause was one person and his computer ketboard.
While the D-J was loosing ground it was holding it's own till about 2:00pm when someone entering numbers for Proctor & Gamble entered a B instead of an M meaning BILLIONS not MILLIONS and the D-J trading computers took over. The D-J has an automatic kickin system for their clients on all of their stocks when they hit a certain level and due to the entry mistakewas entered P-G started to fall and in a short time the value of their stock had dropped around 50% and as traders stood on the floor the numbers just fell through the floor along with their jaws. The mistake was corrected by the end of trading however the mistaken bloodbath ended up costing investers an estimated 700 BILLION dollars.
I know your about to say here again is a case of imput error not the computer however thats easy to say if you weren't effected. Don't get me wrong i'm not saying lets go back to the stone age all i'm saying is lets slow the pace down alittle. When you think about it computers are in control of all of our day to day operations up to and including major deptments of every country in the world, and doesn't that make you think. No the sky isn't falling as i stated before we need to slow down and be sure of everything we enter on our keyboards. This is not the first time nor willit be the last but we can't cotinue to shrug our shoulders and say "OH WELL"
As always speak whats on your alegide minds, see you soon....

Obesity, call it what it is YOUR FAT
O.k. before i get started i have to disclose the fact that i'm fat. Now that i got that off my stomach we can move forward, and i want to rant alittle bit about what is wrong out there and why people and especially children are obese. Way back when, long before 200 cable channels, playstation 3and even cell phones we as kids used our emaginations and picked teams for road hockey as well as baseball.During our formative years at public and senior public schools we attendedgym either every or other days, however where we started to go off the rails is when we started high school and after grade 9 gym became an option that many didn't pick up after that.
So now we move forward to today and some kids hardly see the light of day and the only workout they recieve is to their fingers on the control pad and the snacks their mothers provide. You know you don't see kids outside playing group sports and this is not neccessarily the children's fault as the school boards have banned the use of the fields during and after school hours. The kids are not in the streets playing everthing from hide:n:seek to road hockey out of fear the bylaw officer might happen by, i truly feel sorry for today's generation since not only are they loosing out on much needed exercise but more importantly the inter action with other kids.
It's great that technology has advanced and made things simpler however in some areas it's harmed us, i'm not talking about children alone and what i mean by that is i had an occasion at KFC our power went out which meant we lost the use of the electronic cash registers. Well with 5 teenagers there it became a chinese fire drill trying to service the customers, these kids have used calculators most of their lives and couldn't figure out the numbers (eh gads).
I'm warning all you people with kids that are gaining weight don't think about Walmart, Zeller's, The Bay or Sears for cloths as those boneheads still think they need to purchase small, medium and large for kids and adults, when were in an extra large or larger world. Mom and dad your not of the hook either as i know were in a 2 job fast pasted world however we spend far to much time sitting in line at fast food places instead of home cooked meals. Ther is enough blame to go around and sadly we point our fingers everywhere except at the biggest offender and thats ourselves.
As always please leave your comments if you choose to as it would be nice to know what you think,
see you soon....

What an oily mess
I know your wondering why i'm talking about whats going on in the Gulf of Mexico, and your saying to yourself what has that have to do with Canada? Well it has plenty to do with us, to start with look for a big jump in sea food pricesas a large group of shrimpers are located as well as crab boats all in the line of the slick moving into the shoreline as well as the tourist beaches which the way it looks now are about to be ruined as it looks as though nothing can stop it now.
The reason i really brought this up was the major oil companies are asking our federal government is as i speak are being asked to wave certain environmental rules to save time and money for the oil companies. They contend that the practice of off shore drilling is completely safe, and since this disaster the oil people are calling this an isolated insident. If any one out there believes any of this garbage so be it.
I believe that now is not the time to relax the rules but the time to strengthen them, however i also believe the federal government must be pushed into this position as they would likely choose the economy over the environment. I don't think you understand how if one rig went down in the atlantic the damage to the areas of the grand banks could be ruined for decades.
I'm not a what you wpuld call a "tree hugger" and i don't blue bin very well, however i see a disaster coming our way if we collectively put the brakes on this runaway train, so do like me talk to your neighbors and all your friends and family and then let your member of parliment knowthat you want NO demand stiffer rules for the oil companies, oh and please don't tell me they can't afford the extra charges when their quarterly net profits are over 1 billion dollars.
Come on people standup and be counted before it's to late. As always let me know if you agree or disagree about this or any other of my blogs.
See you soon....

Well i finally did it, i held my first open house on Saturday May 1st. i held it at my apartment building in the lounge from 10:00 till 3:00 and strangely enough while we were setting up 2 people walked in at 9:30 and looked around and both made purchases luss setting the stage for something i didn't expect. When i thought about how to get the SMC name out to the public i soon realized a showcase of products was neccesary.
My close friend who has assisted me right from the beginning thought as i did that quite possibly we could be playing cards for 5 hours, instead quite the opposite happened and mind you a large number were either family or good friends. There were also alot of lookers which as you know helps down the road, and of course you get the standard looker who decides that it was more fun to critize, me and the product however every business gets them, and what yjey don't know is i was involved in minor hockey as a player and coach for almost 30 years and you had better become thick skined.
On the whole the day was a huge success and by my count between 25 and 30 people attended with most either ordering or wanting a catolage for future sales. I decided to provide free coffee, free fruit punch, free cookies and free timbits to which i figured all the free loaders in the building would then begin to show up except this didn't occur (thankfully).
As you know i am wheelchair bound so somethings i need help with so want to take the time to thank a couple of my neighboures for their help as well as my good friend who not only assisted but has been both my assistant and also my biggest cheerleader. So a huge THANK YOU MARY even though it doesn't seem enough.

Good for Jean Charest
I know i'm in the minority when i talk about this subject, however i feel strongly that when a person comes to canada they need to adopt our ways of life as well as our laws. If things were reversed we would likely be tossed in jail for crimes against the state, since Prime Minister Truedeau created the multi cultural immigration act he opened the door for the issues we have today.
Premier Jean Charest of Quebec implimented a new law restricting the use of head covers for muslim women in his province it set off a fire storm of contraversy across canada. Just yesterday here in K-W there was a meeting of about 250 muslim women who got together to rail about the new law. I respect their right to protest, however thats as far as i go in agreeing. It's pretty obvious why this was enacted so there is no confusion on the subject.
I firmly believe that it's o.k. to practice anything you wish in the confines of your own home including sacrifying chickens if you wish, but there are limits when out in public. We spend far to much time bickering over religious freedoms as i believe that the countries laws and the will of the people should supperseed everything else, i may be right or i might be wrong , but at least i am taking a position on this subject, so what about you?
It's time we all got off our butts and spoke up about something you support not just things you oppose.
As always let me know what you think, seeyou soon...

Apo;ogy Are you kidding me!!
I was shocked and dismayed by what i heard and read about what governor general Michaelle Jean is quoted as saying that the government of canada was apoligizing for not stopping the 1994 slaughter of the Tutsi's by the Hutu government. I think i should give you some background as most canadians who only know whats going on out side their windows, you should know that the Hutu were exterminating the Tutsi's in large numbers to the tune of an estimated 800,000men, women and children.
The United Nations stepped in and tried to stop the blood shed (yeah) as only the U.N. can. The mission was led by a canadian commander by the name of General Romeo Dallaire and he tried very hard to intervein but was over ruled by weak leader ship at the U.N. General Dallaire even held press coferences with the world press on numerous occasions to let the world know how his hands were tied. The U.N. grew weary of his publicity that he was replaced as the U.N. commander. He continued to try to bring world support to stop the genocide continuesly for 2 more years when finally the U.S. stepped in, in a meaningful way.
So we move ahead to this week where Governor General Michaelle Jean who is on a diplomatic visit to Rwanda she states at a press briefing that canada was sorry that the canadian lead brigade had not stopped the bloodshed. There is plenty of blame to go around however General Dallaire doesn't diserve any of it. I find it sad that
years later this person seens to be villifying the only true hero during that date and time.
As always let me know what your thoughts are on this or any of the other blogs i've written, seeyou soon...

Call a doctor, Rangers out
On sunday afternoon the Kitchener Rangers choked big time and yet all the talk on t.v. radio and the record they were being portraid as over acheivers and did quite well considering how young the players are. In the future all people will remember is how the rangers blew a 3-0 lead in a best of seven western final. The winner will get the Barrie Colts in the ohl final and wasn't expected to win as barrie has assembled a all-star team, thats neither here nor there since the rangers had a complete collapse.
The attitude around here is not unusual as most canadians and especially the athletes are by nature complaciant, till this february's olympics we never cared about success as just competing was good enough. I'm mad as hell as i find it intolerable to watch canadians on the world stage explain away their failures as competing hard and being pleased with their effort while finishing 45th out of 50, finally this winters olympics we saw a huge effort by the canadian olympic coccittee pushing the own the podium program. We finally heard grumbling across canada when in the first week we saw failure after failure of the so called canadian favourites.
You know we have to collectively we must demand more from our own and make them more accountable for their results, as the alternative is we remain the nice guys in the world at all things competitive. We need to be more assertive and less complacient.
Let me know what you think on this subject or any of the others, see you soon

Thumbs up! for volunteers
I became a volunteer in 1977 after my midget year of hockey, this was my first year as an assistant coach with a peewee "A" team in clarkson. I move ahead 2 years and in 1979 i became a head coach at the age of 19, and concluded my tenure 22 years later having fofilled all my obligations to the players, parents and organization. The amazing thing is i loved every minute of it, occassionally you run into people who can make things difficult for you however this comes with the territory.
One of the first things i discovered was to give of yourself will cost you money, there is always something that crops up allong the way. Mind you i'm not complaining all i'm saying it's a fact. I have met some incredible people allong the way, who have turned into some awesome friends.
Then you fast forward to today (2010) and the situation is reversed and i require the assistance of volunteers, as i have always believed that what you give you get back tenfold. The volunteers at the hospital are curtious and friendly and always helpful, when ever i call them they're right there right away. I live next door to a nursing home and watch as the volunteers assist the seniors with everything from eating a meal, reading to them and taking them for a walk. The great thing is the average volunteer requests one thing an that is a simple THANK YOU amazingly it costs you nothing except a moment of your time.
So thank you to everyone out there who gives of themselves, please let me know what you think of this or any other subject i've covered so far.
See you sopon.

to give or not to give
hi folks i'm sorry for being away so long as i've been busy preparing for saturday may 1st. i have been involved with a u.s. company called SMC which distributes gift products for all occasions and those who have never seen the catolage there are 2000 items available. i have a big day ahead showing actual items and showing off the catolage.
now on to the subject at hand, the federal government pours millions into other countries year after year and the public does the same and church's especially pick locations to pump the parisioneers donations. this is o.k.. with most as the prevailing attitude is i'll right a cheque and just don't ask me to give of my time, i just wish people would tune in to whats happening here in CANADA we have sniors eating cat food because it's all they can afford living on a fixed income, single mothers unable to feed and cloath their children, and homeless people living on small handouts, i saw a story on the news where the families of our troops in afganastan are going to food banks because they can't make ends meet.
i'm fed up with these phone calls and letters from socalled organizations looking for hand outs, the truth is they're professional fundraiser companies whom have as an example paid $100,000to the charity then continuepester us to make money for themselves. the do not call list is a joke so i suggest to everyone be more selective with your donations.
it's more important to take care of our own first and others later.
see you soon.

not a normal friday
today is april 9th. and just another day for most canadians, however today is a very special day as we celebrate a moment in history that transformed canada into a country on a equal footing with the other powers in the world. sadly we don't teach enough canadian history so future generations can celebrate days such as today.
two words vimy ridge, a turning point in world war one and an even larger turning point for canada. the allies as well as the germen's had suffered enormous losses and lines pretty much had stabilized over a lengthly period. the canadian corp. was asked to attack and thanks to some very brave men we took the ridge. the losses were great but it didn't stop the corp. at the time the canadian planners used some new and unorthadox ideas such as a rolling barage as the men left there trenchs the artillary advanced with them.
the losses were great including about 91% of the newfoundland corp. imagine going over the top and loosing 9 out of 10 men. there are no veterans left alive as the last canadian died last year so it's even more important that we continue to remember. the number of veterans still around from world war two are dwindling so even though we thank the veteranes on rememberance day please take the time everyday when you run into one stop and shake their hand and say thanks,

a tribute to mobility plus
when i first leaned of the mobility plus service i was in cambridge and started using it in the fall of 2003 i thought wow what a great service, they come to where i'm staying pick me up and take me to my appointment. a couple hours later they would come back and pick me up and return me to me residence. i got to know the drivers they always made me feel important and always tried to be on time, they don't get enough recognition for their efforts so thanks brenda, john and kevin.
now as of may 2005 i live in kitchener and my usage has grown ten fold, like cambridge the people from parry, kathy, and debbie to tom, and greyson in scheduling to the drivers franz, peter, ed, mike his brother rob, dangerous dan, ron reid and of course those fabulious lady drivers donna, joan, victoria, suzanne, barb, and of course penny. if i left any one out i apoligize because i know i have.
they have an enormous job to do every day trying to fit about 18 thousand riders in to about 600 rides a day kind of like putting a round peg in a square hole. mind you not everyone needs the service every day but you get the picture. i always have a good laugh when i'm on board and some one else gets on and expects to be treated like he's in a taxi and wants to go straight to his destination and even long time riders think it;s part of the service. this group of people deserve our respect and admeration for doing a difficult job yet with a smile on their faces and always a kind word.
i can't thank them enoughm because truth be know on those days to dialysis these people would pick me up and share a joke or just have a conversation and my spirits would be up lifted.
thank you hard working friends.

respite eughhhhh
if anyone you know or you are single, living alone and require a hospital stay, listen very carefully because you will likely go to respite at a location where a nurse ot rpn can keep an eye on you. when i was ready to leave cambridge hospital the social worker came to me with a list of locations to go to and recover.
my close friend and i went to the recommended place in blair and when we arrived we found a old victorian house on blair rd. which was not made for wheelchairs and certainly not disabiled and what we found was a facility full of mental and drug addicted young men. the operator showed us around, the bathroom wasn't set up as i couldn't even get though the door. he informed us that they call you to the diningroom for meals at one large diningroom table and the room i would stay in was no bigger than a phone booth.
i started to shake and my friend said "don't say anything now" and as we started to leave 3 young men were smoking a joint while another was cllecting dead cigarettes for another tenant. when we got to the van i started to weep and saud "please don't let them send me here" i also said "if i have to come here i would rather stay on a street corner in a cardboard box".
on a whim we stopped at avonlea around the corner from the hospital and and found new management had taken over and had only 13 residence out of 34 units, the adminitrator and staff were incredible and i thought i was in heaven. i truly enjoyed my 11 month stay and the day i left for my new apartment it was very tearful goodbye for all of us.
all i'm saying is check things out for yourself and don't let anyone send you anywhere till you check it out yourself.

my rant :if only i had a leg
about 2 weeks ago my best friend celebrated his 51st. birthday and i began to think back to our first encounter. we both worked for a mississauga courier as what is known as a broker which means we cover the cost and they issue the calls and hopefully everbody makes money, well in theory thats the way it works. my friend lived out of town about 45 minuets away with a beautiful wife and 3 great kids and he also was holding down a second job with thw globe and mail.
this chapter of our friendship was to say the least crazy as he talked me into becoming a carrier as well. we spent more time together than a married couple and i know we drove his wife crazy as well. he and i both have what you might say is a whorped sense of humour bit when we get together..... well look out. when i was sick with my left leg they insisted i come and stay at their home as i was experiancing blood poisoning and wasn't thinking straight plus i had a bad case of stupidsm stubborns and just plain old not wanting to go to the hospital.
then after 2 or 3 days he talked me into going to the hospital, we went to cambridge where emerg. did a work up and imformed us that this was serious and requiring admission, since i was already planning a move to windsor away we went. we arrived at hotel-doue at about 10 o'clock and at 11 o'clock the charge nurse told me my wound wasn't serious enough to be admitted and the emerg. doctor told me he would write anote for drugs and might enjoy putting my leg up at home watching t.v. needless to say we're on the road again back to cambridge arriving about 4:30 am and admitted by 6 am and told later that day i was losing my left leg below the knee.
my friemd stuck with me through one of the darkest days of my life and now when he needs my support i can't give it to him, you see he needs a kidney and i would love to give him one except i'm on dialysis as well. when i needed him most he was there and now when he needs me most i can't. i don't get to see him much as we're on oposite days at dialysis and with out his families help he can't get around on his own as he is going blind as well.
so happy birthday my brother and i hope many more!!!!

remembering a neighbor
this past weekend a neighbor past away and he was discovered by his family on sunday in his favorite recliner, he had past away sometime in his sleep. i can't call him friend just my neighbor as he changed over time. when i moved in may 4th 2005 he had already moved in on the second floor and right from the start he was very helpfull with anything i or anyone else needed done. this man was in his 70's but you wouldn't know it as he had the stamina of a 50 year old.
as time went on he got involved with another neighbor and they had a falling out with at least half the building, that neighbor moved out and so he was left on his own. in the fall of 2009 he fell ill and now had a bad heart as well as cancer, which brings me to the point a want to make as i have felt as he did that your all alone and you don't want to step out of your apartment for any reason. i manage to break myself of this however he couldn't and so he died as he lived ALONE.
i wake up every morning thankful i'm alive and live like it's my last day on earth, it would be easy to feel the way he did when you live in a building with sniors all around you and 3 days a week at the hospital with people whom you may not see again.
so farewell don i hope your happy now that you have gone to a better place

my rant ; a new direction needed
i guess i should say up front that i have been spoiled by living most of my life in mississauga with canada's most popular mayor who i admire greatly. as a recent resident of kitchener i was to say the least shocked with the poor services this city offers in as far as street, sidewalks, and bridges are maintained. the housing dept. has a waiting list for affordable housing and with the recently finished assisted living building filled with 31 units in the last month there is a waiting list already.
the building next door the regional nursing home has a waiting list of 3 to 5 tears. the streets look like a patchwork quilt with all the patchs and potholes that could swallow small cars. the sidewalks look like each slab of concrete was laid by a blind crew, the city recognizes the problem as crews have been spray painting and shaving the edges of each slab.recently a disabiled lady in a wheelchair was hit and killed on victoria st, this road for those who don't know cuts accross kitchener with 4 lanes, however rhere are no sidewalks over a large area of one of the more driven roads with many retaial outlets.
i find it facinating that some of the largest corporations are on this road and not a whisper to the press about correcting the problem, and the region has a role here as well as the city as some of these areas are controled jointly or by each other. i find that the has been alot of silence both levels of government when the feds. and the prov. threw open the bank vault doors for infrastructure money it appears we got in the wrong line.
i believe we should make some changes this november as these professional polititions need to be replaced by fresh people with fresh ideas and believe that to run is a calling to serve and not a job because they couldn't cope in the private secter. you know all politions have a shelf life and i think we should check the expirly date on the entire group as i play no favorites.
you know sadly nothing will change till people get mad enough and say " I'M MAD AS HELL AND I WANT CHANGE" however at the local level most citizens couldn't pick their member out of a police lineup, people will bitch and moan but when it comes time to make your vote count 30 to 40 persent don't even bother to vote and i'm being generous withthose numbers,
so if the same old professional polititians are returned for 4 more years i don't want to hear any complaints as you only have yourselves to blame, so please contact me with your thoghts and please pass my blog on to your friends and co-workers.
see you next time.

i find it facinating that some of the largest corporations are on this road and not a whisper to the press about correcting the problem, and the region has a role here as well as the city as some of these areas are controled jointly or by each other. i find that the has been alot of silence both levels of government when the feds. and the prov. threw open the bank vault doors for infrastructure money it appears we got in the wrong line.
i believe we should make some changes this november as these professional polititions need to be replaced by fresh people with fresh ideas and believe that to run is a calling to serve and not a job because they couldn't cope in the private secter. you know all politions have a shelf life and i think we should check the expirly date on the entire group as i play no favorites.
you know sadly nothing will change till people get mad enough and say " I'M MAD AS HELL AND I WANT CHANGE" however at the local level most citizens couldn't pick their member out of a police lineup, people will bitch and moan but when it comes time to make your vote count 30 to 40 persent don't even bother to vote and i'm being generous withthose numbers,
so if the same old professional polititians are returned for 4 more years i don't want to hear any complaints as you only have yourselves to blame, so please contact me with your thoghts and please pass my blog on to your friends and co-workers.
see you next time.

the beginning of frustration
it's april 2004 and i'm visiting the o.d.s.p (ont. disability) office and meeting my advocate for the first time, and before we even discuss my case she informs me i made it under the wire by $4 dollars to qualify for there services. i was recieving a little over $700 dollars on my federal disability and told i'm almost not qualifing for financial and medical help from the ontario government.
my rep tosses a file on the table and tells me to apply for everything and see what i receive, what a cruel joke as the file was as thick as the book "war and peace" it was upsetting to find out that your advocate really wasn't. it's now 6 years later and i'm stilling learning about things i qualify for, thankfully if you talk with others on o.d.s.p you learn more than you'll ever learn from those who are suppose to speak on your behalf.
it seems to me the job of these social workers are not there for us, their main job function is to avoid providing assistance to the weak. the government is running a large debt so the belt titaning is only going to get worse, for those of us between 21 and 65 we really need to organize politically since children and seniors are well represented. all you have to do is look in the quarterly service books and there is activities for seniors and children however if your lucky you will find a couple of activities for those of us in between.
one other thing you may not be aware of is when the feds give you a cost of living increase in january the ontario gov. takes away the equal amount which sucks but thats not the worst of it, the region applies 30%to your fed pension to arrive at your rent. this for those having trouble understanding this your monthly monies stay the same and your rent continues to go up. what i don't get is waterloo region is the only region using fed pension alone were as others use your total income, i do understand as your total dollars never go up neither would your rent.
so long for now, please leave your comments i look forword to hearing from all of you at some point.

rant of the week
this is my rant of the week, restaurants that i can't get into with my wheelchair. you would think the majority of places would make it as easy as possible, from this point forward i intend to list every place i'm not welcome and it's my hope that everyone reading this boycotts these companies.when someone asks why your not frequenting these companies you tell them why and ask that they stop doing business with them till they change their practices.
as an example the harvey's on fairway has 2 double doors that are manual there counters are above my head in my chair and if my friend who is also in a wheelchair decide to eat in we have to block off a section and sit in an aisle because they have no tables for wheelchairs. the sad part is this facility is relatively new and i could understand if the store was 20 years old but it isn't and it's painfully obvious they don't care about my business, so it's important they don't get yours either.
please don't laugh this off as the only way we effect change is to hurt them in the wallet, when you and i work together we can effect change whether it's here or were you live. it's time to speak up about all injustices every where.
let me know your thoughts on this or any of my blogs and plese pass on my address to your friends and family

moving daze
when i stopped last, iexplained that the feds back dated my pension i received a cheque for i think 8 months adding up to about $4600 and the very day it arrived ontario works calls and says you must sign over that cheque to which i ask housing has found a place for meand how do i pay my rent my hydro deposit, my rogers deposit, and my bell canada deposit plus find furniture as well as kitchen equipment. u forgot to mention eating for the month!!!
the response was well your getting $799 as a start up,what a joke. what they dont tell you is your better off to keep that cheque and end up paying it back monthly. in 2004 i kept the cheque and by september 2010 it will be repaid thank heavon after that it means $42 extra for me every month.
i got lucky with housing as housing found me a handicaped apartment after only 4 months on the waiting list, normally you wait up to 24 to30 months. the next break i got was moving into a new buildyng on the first floor with a patio. you have to know here in this region most of the buildings are between 30 and 50 years old with almost little or no wheelchair access. thats it for now, dont be afraid to send me your comments.

first day of the rest of my life
june 29th,2003 the day that changed everything. i sat on the bed at the cambridge hospital when dr. colin told me she would have to remove my left leg , my first reaction was to cry like a baby and tell her kill me now. the only gratifing thing was my 2 sisters and brother were forced to cooperate fully with each other for the first time since our mother pasted away in august of 2002.
you would think that the pain and suffering would have ended with my rehab. yeah !!! first off you need to know a good social worker is nessesary to walk you through the mine field your headed fore. if you own a home and money in the bank your on your own which means you must i repeat you must bakrupt yourself to get any help, all i had was some savings. i had to dispose of those funds right away, ontario works then kicked in.
i recooperated at avonlea retirement home at their expense while i applied for my disability pention and apply to ontario disability for my medical coverage. this took ruffely 8 months and i hope your sitting down reading this because the first shock was abouy to hit.
i will elaberate further next time.

My History
hi folks this is my first blog so I guess I should start at the beginng. I come from a very nutty family, that at least on my fathers side, to be kind, they are different. Two uncles were guests of the government at the hotel joyceville and another disappeared 41 years ago resurfacing in california in the mid 80's as according to him the mob in montreal had put a contract out on him because he was a safe cracker who kept what he was contracted to get them. My father was the only normal one in the group.
You know in hind sight I think they got it from their father as when I went before the RCMP and CISS I got red flagged because not for what my uncles were up to but it turns out grampa was a bootlegger and was to be deported how ever my grama had one lung removed and had TB and wasn't expected to live so they let him go. My grama was one old tough bird she lived till 1968 ha-ha. My parents are gone now and I am left with 2 sisters and a brother. Sadly only the WWE could get the 4 of us together for maybe a cage match.
Now here I am 49 going on 15 according to friends and family. I just love my fun. My first flirt with death came in '99 with multible heart attacks. Moving to '01 with a ruptured bowel and on to '03 when i lost my left leg, bellow the knee this became my first and certainly not my last greetings with the 3 headed monster known as the 3 levels of government.
In my next posting we will get into some of those headaches.
